The Biggest Bridal Trend of the Moment
Our CEO and bridal expert Sarah saw it immediately:
“What stood out to me the most this year? That anything goes.”

No bride needs to fit into a box anymore. Whether you go for boho, minimal, or full couture, your style is central. And you feel exactly that on the catwalk at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week!
There is no one 'right' wedding dress. Instead, you see endless ways to express yourself. From bold statement looks to soft, romantic dresses, everything exists side by side. And honestly? That might not make choosing easier... but it does make it a lot more fun!
Not sure where to start? Our guide on wedding dress styles for every body type helps you figure out which silhouette suits you best.
1. Visible Corsets
The corset trend is everywhere, truly everywhere. But no longer hidden in the dress — instead visible and part of the look. During shows from Eva Lendel, WONÁ Concept, and Yolancris, we saw corsets worn over dresses, often paired with a lace skirt. Even the boning is no longer subtly hidden but sometimes extends into the skirt.
"The corset has truly become a statement piece. It's no longer just about shaping, but about the overall look."
- Sarah Glasbergen, Founder at ThePerfectWedding.com
The result? A powerful style that perfectly balances femininity and structure.

2. Lots of Lace in Dresses
If there's one material that dominated this edition, it's lace. But forget the classic, predictable variant. Lace is used playfully and in layers. Think transparent fabrics that move with every step, refined details at necklines and sleeves, and looks where lace is combined with something totally unexpected, like a blazer.
"Lace has really gotten an upgrade. It feels less traditional and more modern and surprising."
- Sarah Glasbergen, Founder at ThePerfectWedding.com
You see it in soft, romantic dresses, but also in edgy combinations that are anything but standard. Fallen for lace? Discover everything about lace types, silhouettes, and quality tips in our complete lace wedding dress guide.

3. The Peplum is Back
Maybe not the trend you saw coming, but one you can't miss now: the peplum is back. At several shows, including Demetrios and Yolancris, we saw how this subtle extra layer around the waist adds more shape and movement. Sometimes very minimalist, sometimes a bit more pronounced, but always flattering.
"It's one of those details where you think: this just works. It adds shape, but remains airy."
- Sarah Glasbergen, Founder at ThePerfectWedding.com
And that's exactly what makes this trend so strong.

4. Blazers and Suits as Wedding Looks
One of the biggest surprises on the catwalk? The rise of tailoring in bridal fashion. Blazers are worn casually over dresses or even form the basis of a complete look. Combinations of a lace skirt with a fitted jacket were also frequently seen.
"This is really for the bride who dares to be different. Bridal is moving more and more towards high fashion."
- Sarah Glasbergen, Founder at ThePerfectWedding.com
It instantly gives your look something powerful and unique, without losing the romantic feel. Love the idea of separates? A two-piece wedding dress gives you that same modern, mix-and-match energy.

5. Eye-Catching Details and Embellishments
Where previous years focused on subtle details, now it's meant to be seen. 3D flowers, hand-painted prints, and rich textured fabrics play a major role. Dresses gain more depth and movement through layers, pleated fabrics, and striking appliqués.
"It's really about that one wow moment. When you walk in and everyone takes a moment to look."
- Sarah Glasbergen, Founder at ThePerfectWedding.com
From flowers that literally seem to come off the dress to small details like bows, feathers, or lace accents — everything contributes to that extra experience.
These statement looks pair beautifully with the right bridal accessories, from delicate hairpieces to the perfect veil.
6. New Shapes and Silhouettes
There's a lot of experimentation with silhouettes as well. From dresses that start tight and flare out at the bottom — the classic fit and flare — to high-low models that are short in the front and long in the back. The classic fit is making way for more playfulness. Cat-eye necklines and striking cuts provide a subtle yet innovative twist.
"Designers really dare to play more with proportions. And that makes it much more exciting than the standard silhouettes."
- Sarah Glasbergen, Founder at ThePerfectWedding.com
What stands out is that even the more outspoken designs remain wearable.

7. Dresses with Unique and Handmade Details
A trend that really stood out: dresses that almost feel like art objects.
"These are designs you remember. Not just because they are beautiful, but because they tell a story."
- Sarah Glasbergen, Founder at ThePerfectWedding.com
We saw painted flowers, rich textures, and details so carefully crafted that they feel couture-like. No mass production feel, but rather something unique. If this speaks to you, you might also love the world of vintage wedding dresses — where every piece already tells a story.

What Do These Trends Mean for You?
If you take one thing away from Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2026, let it be this: there are no more rules.
"The most beautiful trend is that you can be yourself. That is ultimately what makes a dress truly special."
- Sarah Glasbergen, Founder at ThePerfectWedding.com
Whether you fall for a romantic lace dress, a powerful blazer look, a corset statement, or volume and drama — anything goes. As long as it suits you.
